Kristen Okimaw grew up in Kelowna and moved back in 2007 after practicing in Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto. Kristen has been practicing for over 15 years and a substantial focus of her practice is in the area of wills, estates, trusts, and estate administration, including:

  • Estate Planning including wills, trusts (testamentary and inter vivos), powers of attorney, and representation agreements

  • Complex estate plans, such as: multi-jurisdictional wills, wills involving cross-border issues, tax planned wills with multiple trusts, deeds of gift, declaration of trust, life insurance trusts, wills for blended families often with pre and post nuptial agreements as part of a comprehensive estate plan and other advanced probate planning, and strategies to address potential future incapacity

  • Disability planning including both Henson trusts and inter vivos disability trusts

  • Advising settlors, trustees, and beneficiaries on the settlement and administration of inter-vivos and testamentary trusts

  • Appointment of committees

  • Estate administration, including applications for probate, letters of administration, and resealing foreign grants

  • Acting as Professional Trustee. Advising executors, trustees, and beneficiaries pertaining to all aspects of estate administration.

  • Estate Litigation

Kristen also practices in the areas of real estate and family law. She assists her clients in the following matters:
  • Family law agreements including cohabitation, marriage, and separation agreements
  • Desk Order Divorces
  • Purchasing or selling residential or commercial real estate
  • Refinancing
  • Family transfers of real estate
  • Development sales and purchases

In her free time Kristen enjoys spending time family and friends, running, travelling, boating, and enjoying all that the beautiful Okanagan has to offer.
